Flocculants & Coagulants
For clarification of any water supply, Applied Specialties offers a complete range of cationic, nonionic, and anionic polymeric flocculants, specially processed clays, organic and inorganic coagulants – spanning a wide range of monomers, molecular weights and charge densities. This wide range of product selection enables your Applied Specialties Technical Specialist to match the most effective product to solve even the most difficult wastewater issues. For those applications requiring NSF Certification, Applied Specialties has a complete line of NSF Certified coagulants and flocculants.
Antifoams
Applied Specialties’ Antifoam Series causes rapid coalescence and collapse of bubbles in all types of water and process systems. Applied Specialties’ antifoam products have been effective in controlling foam in clarifiers, sewage plant effluents, cooling towers and various process water streams.
Fugitive Dust Control
Environmental as well as health and safety issues will continue to increase, as Particulate Emission guidelines for general industry and in particular Coal Burning Facilities become stricter. For this reason, Applied Specialties has developed a series of products and application technology to solve these issues. To demonstrate this technology, Applied Specialties has a program to provide a “No Risk Trial” to prove the effectiveness of our dust suppression system.

Combustion Aids & Fuel Conditioners
The cost of fuel whether coal, gas or oil requires that combustion be complete to extract every available BTU from the fuel you purchase. Improved fuel conditioning and combustion aid techniques can provide long-term protection for industrial boiler systems. Applied Specialties’ Series Fuel Oil Stabilizers and Combustion Catalysts effectively prevent high and low-temperature corrosion and deposition, eliminate slag accumulation, and provide energy savings. Applied Specialties’ Series of Fuel Oil Stabilizers also remove sludge by a controlled solvent action, eliminating entrained water and inhibiting corrosion. Other Applied Specialties’ Fuel Oil Stabilizers remove heavy polymeric and asphaltine deposits. Applied Specialties’ Series Combustion Catalysts include blends of organo-metallics to reduce slag and improve fuel efficiency with reduced smoking. This line also features “state of the art” reactive magnesium slurry to prevent vanadium slag formation, high temperature corrosion, and reduce sulfuric acid smut emissions.
Process Side Treatments
Applied Specialties’ product development staff applies the latest technology to the process side of oil refineries. Applying Applied Specialties’ Total Treatment Programs dramatically reduces the cost of process-side corrosion in terms of equipment replacement, reduced production and downtime.
Emulsion Breakers and Demulsifiers
Applied Specialties offers a complete line of emulsion breakers that are designed for separating “oil-in-water” and “water-in-oil” emulsions in industrial process and waste streams. These products have been formulated to provide a broad range of specific additives that economically split tenacious emulsions of widely varied natures. This series of products are specifically designed to function well in refinery, petrochemical and steel mill oil recovery and waste treatment applications. Proper use of these products by Applied Specialties service engineers can result in the economic recovery of waste oil and generate wastewater streams of sufficient water quality for reclamation and reuse within some plants.
Dispersants, Process Inhibitors and Antifoulants
The Applied Specialties 5000 Series product line include effective antifoulants in which asphaltic and carbonaceous particulate matters are the primary system components. These products are effectively employed in systems containing reactive or unstable stock. Other Applied Specialties Series products include: antipolymerants, anti-oxidants, a metal deactivator to combat trace quantities of a metal which could cause polymerization problems, and combination of polar organic corrosion inhibitors and anti-foulants to keep metal surfaces free of corrosion and improve heat exchanger efficiency.
